Next Generation

The Next Generation (NxG) Community offers young family business members aged 18 to 40 a safe space to learn and inspire one another.

FBN NxG includes 8,000 members from 65 countries, uniting them in a dynamic community.

In order to achieve this, our objective is to empower and guide NxG members in discovering their unique roles and contributions within the business family, enabling them to:

  • Maximize personal growth

  • Benefit the family legacy

  • Make a positive impact in the world

Now Generation

As a leader within your family business, you have a lot of responsibility and accountability, but you may not yet have full control or decision-making power.

You're also growing your own family and thinking about succession planning, you know how important it is to stay focused and make strategic decisions.

At this point in your life, you may find it harder to pull an all-nighter partying… but that doesn't mean you're ready to slow down.

Entrepreneurs

The entrepreneurial mind-set is essential to family businesses, embodying their core. Every family business starts with an idea from motivated individuals willing to take risks.

"People truly understand what it means to be an entrepreneur; you can honestly discuss challenges and goals."

Our purpose is to ignite and fuel the entrepreneurial DNA of business families, empowering all members to innovate, adapt, and create lasting impact. The community is for Intrapreneurs & Entrepreneurs and Investors.

Family Office

Family businesses are evolving into families in business through strategic shifts, sales, or diversification. As they continue collaborating after these changes, they face challenges on both family and business fronts.

The entrepreneurial spirit often persists post-liquidity events, with many families operating as asset operators rather than owners. FBN connects business families establishing family offices to share insights on both familial and business-related topics.

  • Family office aspects: succession planning, Next Gen education, family cohesion, entrepreneurial spirit, compensation, philanthropy, concierge services.

  • Business aspects: wealth planning, diversification, active investing, non-family talent, impact investment.

The goal of FBN’s Impact Community is to enable business families to create an impact in the world and build a lasting legacy across generations.

We do this through four Drivers of Change:

  • Business

  • Philanthropy

  • Investment

  • Advocacy

We recognize that every business family takes a unique and personal path to creating impact, and so our programs are designed to meet our members exactly where they are.

To enable action, the Impact Community's "Open Space" provides a connection point for members to openly discuss collaboration opportunities.

As business families grow beyond cousins’ consortiums, they face specific issues related to family cohesion, affectio societatis, governance, professionalization, strategy and diversification.

The Large Families Community serves as a crucial pillar of the FBN ecosystem. They face the most significant challenges in cohesion, complexity, and risk. Furthermore, all other families view them as examples and role models.

Within FBN, "Large families" are defined by:

  • Fifty owners

  • Or thirty owners over two generations

  • Or fifty family members
